Day 4 Over the Hump

On Day 4 I woke up feeling bright and fresh, not hungry one bit and no headache.  And that's when the joy of fasting begins, after day 3, and it only gets better as the days go by.  In general, my energy was up, I worked felt totally fine.   I thought I was going to have to start the mechanical cleansing of my colon, but I got a nice surprise, and think I might wait another day or two for that:)  So those of you who are waiting for me to descripe a self administered enema (you sickos!) are just going to have to keep waiting.

Oh, and I weighed myself today and my weight is 110.5, so I don't think I've actually lost any weight which is a good thing, especially since I have yet to reach my goal of 120 ounces of juice per day.  I can say with certainty that I'm consuming at least 120 ounces of fluid per day if you include the herbal teas and water.

My nose has been on high alert, and I can smell food for miles.  I kind of feel like a dog, looking at food everywhere that I know I can't have.  And the crazy cravings are starting, like the Mc Donalds commercial talking about chicken mc nuggets made me think it would be really nice to have some.  I don't think I've eaten a chicken mc nugget since highschool, but there I was, fantasizing about it. In fact, I want one right now.  And then, the other night I went for a walk with my friend and we stopped in a new neighborhood restaraunt just to look and see what it was (french inspired nouveau cuisine- knuckle bite)   We left with the menu and since he can't read without his reading glasses, I had to read it to him.  It was a really nice place, with an awesome menu. Reading it was torture.

It's evening now and I say with sadness that another headache has set in.  They call it detox symptoms, I think it's a sinus headache.  It kind of sucks, but it's evening, I can finish this post and crawl into bed, I'm sure it will be gone by morning.

Juices for today

Cantelope- just cantelope-rind, seeds and all
3 and 3/4 cantelope juice (30 oz)- 220 calories
If you've never had cantelope juice you have no idea what you're missing.


Apple, pear, lemon, blackberry, spinach
2 (16 oz)cups pear juice- 300 calories
1/2 (4 oz) cup blackberry juice-45
2 (16 oz)cups apple juice- 240 calories
1/4 (2oz)spinach juice- 7 calories
1/4 (2 oz) cup lemon juice-13

40 oz at 605 calories


The standard evening juice-
13 oz carrot- 15 carrots- 152 calories
3 oz kale- half a bunch of kale- 15 calories
2 oz spinach- half a bunch of spinach- 7 calories
4 oz apple- 1 green apple- 60 calories
2 oz beet- 2 small beets -12 calories
4 oz cucumber- 1 cucumber- 35 calories
2 oz celery- the center core of the celery- 11
with a thumb of ginger and a quarter of poplano pepper for flavor

30 oz  at 292 calories

Total for the day:  100 oz at 1117 calories.  Much closer to the goal but not there yet.

I'm already bored of counting calories and calculating it all and stuff.  It's so much nicer just throwing a bunch of stuff in the juicer and going about the day.  Keeping track of it is tedious and posting it is eh...  I hope someone gets something useful out of it.  I guess it's a good excercise in doing something I said I'd do even though I don't wanna.  My commitment to this fast isn't waning, but my excitment about posting about calorie consumption is.  There's so much other stuff to share but this takes time and space.  Perhaps once I'm half way through I'll switch gears.
