Day 1



Pinapple, spinach, oranges and grapefruits
Wow- Day one was just a hard day in general, fast or no fast.  I wrote a bunch of stuff but decided it was unnecessary.  Basically, I had a really bad headache all day which was unreleated to the fast.  I woke up with it and besides the time I spent juicing, was in bed pretty much all day.  But, I stuck with my commitment to begin the fast despite feeling crappy, and so pics, recipes and stuff are here:)

I went to the store Friday night and bought a bunch of produce in prep for day 1.  The list includes
Ginger- 1.47
18lbs of Grapfruit- 7.88
18 lbs of oranges- 7.88
4 organic anjou pears-5.73
1 cantalope- .98
4 lemons- 1.34
4 organic granny smith apples- 5.28
1 bunch kale- 3.48
1 bunch organic beets with greens- 3.48
2 bunches of parsley- .56
4 cucumbers- 2.48
2 mangos- 2.50
4 tomatoes- 3.24
2 bunches of spinach- 1.96
2 packages blackberries- 3.00

Total spent: 51.76

I also had at home already a bunch of carrots and celery so I didn't need to buy those.  After going to the store, I think I'm going to try and juice more spinach than kale because right now, spinach is .98 a bunch and kale is 3.48.  And I'm going to be making a LOT of juice.

Juice recipes for Day 1
Orange/Grapefruit
2 and 3/4 (22 oz) cups of orange juice from 10 oranges- 300 calories
2 (16 0z) cups grapefruit juice from 5 grapefruits-192 calories

Total: 38 oz- 492 calories- (drank it too fast, made my tummy upset)

Pinapple Spinach
2 cups (16 oz) of pinapple juice from one regular sized pinapple- 264 calories
1/3 (2 oz) cup of spinach from one bunch of spinach- 7 calories

Total: 18 oz- 271 calories.

Carrot, apple, beet, parsley, ginger, chard, cucumber, celery
2 thumb sized bits of ginger
1 cup (8oz) beet juice (one medium beet and one small beet)- 43 calories
1/3 (3oz) cup beet greens and chard greens (greens from one beet and half bunch of chard) 20 calories
1/2 (4oz) cup apple juice from one green apple-60 calories
3/4 cup (6oz) cucumber juice from one cucumber- 53 calories
2 and 1/4 cup (18 oz) carrot juice from like 10 carrots- 212
2/3 cup (6 oz) celery and parsley juice (2 stalks celery and half bunch of parseley) 20 calories

45 oz- 408 calories


Total for the day
98 oz at 1,171 calories.  Not quite 120 ounces but close enough.

So- day one was successful in that I began my fast, not successful in that I didn't do yoga or anything else positive, I didn't even shower. Just laid in bed hoping for my headache to go away and hoping that day two would be better.  I can be a bit of a baby when I'm feeling bad, so I'm really grateful that this happened on a Saturday when I had nothing urgent planned.  The juice will make it all better, I'm certain!

Oh yah, I'd said I'd mention other things like health issues, weight ect. Health issues will be another post, but body weight as of last week (last time I weighed myself) was 110lbs.  Does anyone have a scale I can borrow?
